USA Coal Export Drop by 0.2% in Oct ’16

USA monthly coal export fell by 0.2% in Oct’16 compared to last month. Also, witnessed a yearly fall of 6.3% during the month, compared to Oct’15.

USA, world’s fourth largest coal exporter, shipped about 7.7 MMst coal in Oct’16 with a marginal fall of 0.2% compared to last month. Country’s coal export also noted a fall of 6.3% compared to Oct’15.

Out of the total monthly exported quantity, more than 90% coal comprises Bituminous and Pet coke and rest are Anthracite, Coke and other grades.

USA coal export in 2016
In the first ten month of the year, the country exported 76 MMst coal with a fall of 14%, which was 88.7 MMst in the same consecutive period last year.

Japan is the largest importer of coal during the month, followed by India and Brazil as the 2nd and 3rd largest importers in Oct’16.

Japan is one of the largest buyers of US grade coal and consumed about 0.9 MMst coal in Oct’16; up by 35% compared to last month. While, yearly import rose by more than 79%, which was at 0.5 MMst in Oct’15.

India, the second-largest coal importer imported about 0.8 MMst coal in Oct’16, with a downfall of 9%, compared to 0.95 MMst in Sep’16. The country’s yearly import fell by 3.6% from Oct’15.

Brazil, the third-largest importer of USA coal in Oct’16, imported about 0.8 MMst coal. The country’s import rose by 53% in Oct’16 and the import moved up 7% Y-o-Y.
