NMDC supplied 408 rakes of iron ore from its Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh last month compared to 356 rakes in Nov’16. Thus, 15% M-o-M rise can be noticed in its iron ore supply. NMDC had rolled over iron ore prices early Nov’16 however towards the end it raised fines prices by INR 100/MT w.e.f 29 Nov’16.
Iron ore procurement by outside C.G. based units improved significantly by 17% M-o-M to 283 rakes in Nov’16. RINL (Vizag Steel) sourced 181 iron ore rakes in Nov’16 against 153 rakes in Oct’16.
Southern India based pellet maker – KIOCL doubled its NMDC’s iron ore purchases from 25 rakes in Oct’16 to 49 rakes in Nov’16. Pellet maker’s export also moved up in Nov’16.
JSW Steel, Dolvi kept its iron sourcing stable at 42 rakes in Nov’16.
Chhattisgarh based sponge iron units procured 65 rakes from NMDC in Nov’16. Their sourcing remained stable on monthly premises. Sponge iron prices in central India remained high towards Nov’16 beginning however prices fell sharply by over INR 1,000/MT amid limited trades over currency demonetization. Sentiments started turning optimistic by the month end.
NMDC’s rake movements for exports moved up by 25% M-o-M from 48 rakes in Oct’16 to 60 rakes in Nov’16.
