Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market climbed up by INR 500/t d-o-d on 21 May’26, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) prices stood at INR 35,300/t ($367/t) exy. BigMint learnt from sources that there was a fuel shortage for transport vehicles, resulting in limited vehicle availability and disruptions in scrap movement. The resulting tightness in scrap supply prompted suppliers to raise their offers today.
