- OMC’s chrome ore auction scheduled on same day
- H1 price at previous auction surpasses base by INR 800/t
Vedanta-FACOR has scheduled a ferro chrome auction on 20 May 2026, offering high-carbon lumps (Cr:57% min, 10-150 mm), chips (Cr:53% min, 10-20 mm), and fines (Cr:50% min, 0-10 mm) across multiple lots. Minimum bid quantities are set at 300 t for the larger lumps lots, 30 t for smaller lumps and chips lots, and 100 t for fines.
At the previous auction on 24 April 2026, the larger lot (Cr: 56% min, 10-150 mm) fetched an H1 price of INR 116,800/t ($1,213/t) exw, up by INR 800/t ($8/t) from the base price of INR 116,000/t ($1,204/t), while the entire quantity was booked. Meanwhile, BigMint assessed ferro chrome (HC60%) prices at INR 119,000/t ($1,235/t) exw-Jajpur on 15 May 2026.
The upcoming Vedanta-FACOR auction is expected to influence domestic ferro chrome demand trends. Additionally, market participants are also waiting for the results of the chrome ore auction from the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) scheduled on the same day.
