Indian Govt Imposes Anti Dumping Duty on Met Coke Imports

The Government of India (GoI) has eventually imposed Anti Dumping Duty on imports of Low Ash Metallurgical (LAM) Coke that is expected to help the industry in the country to revive.

Responding to the recommendation of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the affirmative, the Finance Ministry has levied the duty, which will be effective for five years, unless revoked earlier.

For Met Coke originating from China, the duty has been fixed at USD 25.20/MT; and for Australian origin Met Coke, the duty is fixed at USD 16.29/MT.

However, Met Coke with ash content of more than 18% has been kept away from the periphery of imposition of the duty.

Expressing optimism, a reputed Met Coke producer in India told CoalMint that the step will help the industry in the country to flourish in the long run.
