Dr Ashok Kumar Panda assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) on 09 May 2026. Prior to this, he served as Director (Finance) and also held additional charge of Director (Commercial) for around nine months. A SAIL veteran with over three decades of experience, he joined the company as a Management Trainee (Technical) in 1992 and has held key roles across various plants and units.
During his tenure, he led several initiatives focused on operational efficiency, profitability improvement, production enhancement, and strengthening sales and branding strategies. Under his leadership, SAIL is expected to accelerate its 35 MTPA expansion plans, strengthen raw material security, and enhance focus on value-added products, and market expansion.
