India: Sandur’s manganese ore auction sees steady participation w-o-w

  • Buying interest concentrated on Mn 28-30% grades
  • Bids edged up marginally over declared base prices

Sandur Manganese and Iron Ore Limited conducted a manganese ore auction on 29 April 2026, offering 16,128 tonnes (t) of material, comprising both fines and lumps across grades ranging from Mn 26% to 32% and size fractions between -10 mm and 100 mm.

The auction witnessed consistent engagement from market participants, with approximately 7,056 t (around 44%) successfully transacted, while 9,072 t remained unsold. Buying interest was notably strong for Mn 28-30% grade material, with six lots securing confirmed bids.

In contrast to the 24 April auction, which did not feature these grades, the latest auction included Mn 26-28%, 28-30%, 30-32% and 32-34% material Notably, the auction saw bids exceed base prices by 1.72%.
