Anthracite Coal import offers have shown no sign of reversal as demand remained substantially strong in international regions; barring India, where demand continued to be lackluster.
Import offers have not undergone any deviation from that in the week last. The prevailing import offers are at USD 135/MT CFR India.

Demand in China has been stronger from the fertilizer industry. The coal is used for producing Nitrogenous fertilizers. As a result of the stronger demand from the fertilizer segment, prices of Anthracite Coal in China rose further this week. The prices, this week, rose by around 2.9% to USD 105.8/MT from USD 102.8/MT in last week in that country.
In the meantime, DTEK Energo, a Ukraine based diversified company, having presence in thermal power, has been stocking Anthracite Coal to cater to the peak demand for power in the winter season. The company’s stocks of Anthracite Coal is expected to reach 742,000 ton by Nov’16 end.
IMPORTS
There has been no bulky import of the coal into India, apparently due to the lackluster atmosphere. During the 1-16 Nov’16 period, only 61,300 MT of Anthracite Coal was imported into India, according to CoalMint Research. The importers were: Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited, Tata Steel, Essar, Jindal Steel and Power.
