Turkey, the world’s eight largest iron ore importer has imported 0.86 MnT iron ore in Sept’16, according to the trade statistics released by Turkey customs.
Iron ore imports have witnessed a growth of 48% M-o-M as it was 0.58 MnT in Aug’16. On the contrary, Turkey iron ore imports dropped down by 9% Y-o-Y as it was 0.95 MnT in Sept’15.
During the first nine months of 2016, the country imported 7.73 MnT iron ore, up by 2.7% Y-o-Y as it was 7.52 MnT in the same period prior this year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Sept’16 was registered at 0.43 MnT, significantly up by 65% M-o-M and 48% Y-o-Y. On contrary, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.43 MnT, up by 30% M-o-M and down by 35% Y-o-Y.
Country’s iron ore imports is majorly directed from Brazil, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. In Sept’16, the country imports 0.42 MnT from Brazil, 0.20 MnT from Russia, 0.17 MnT from Sweden and 0.07 MnT iron ore from Ukraine.
