In Oct’16, Coking Coal imports into India were around 4.9% higher than in Sep’16;however, were lower by around 14% in comparison with the imports in Oct’15.
According to CoalMint Research, 4.03 MnT of Coking Coal was imported into the country during Oct’16 that was higher than that of 3.84 MnT in Sep’16. However, the Oct’16 import quantity was lower than the imports of 4.69 MnT in the corresponding month of the last fiscal.

Conforming to the usual trend, imports from Australia constituted the highest share in the imports into the country in Oct’16.

Amongst the ports in the country, the Paradip port had handled the highest volume of import traffic during the month, followed by the Mormugao and Haldia ports.

The importers during the month were: SAIL, Usha Martine, Gujarat NRE, Bhushan Steel, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Rawmet Commodities, among others.
