SteelMint has acknowledged from its market sources that Indian manufacturers have raised the domestic flat product prices by 500-1000/MT which also include plates.Thus,current prices of commercial grade plates (16-20mm) are being heard at INR 32,500-33,000/MT (ex-mill) basis. Equivalent to USD 488-495/MT. Prices excluding excise duty of 12.5%.
Whereas plates prices in Mumbai and Delhi are assessed in the range of INR 38,000-38,500/MT.Prices including excise duty of 12.5%.
Imposition of demonetization policy on 8th Nov 2016 by Indian government to ban 500 &1000 denomination notes in order to curb black money has bought chaos in the economy. This may affect the India’s steel consumption for the short to medium span of time.
However, demand will become slow as it leads to stabilization of flat product prices in domestic market.
China:
China’s domestic market has become strengthen thus driving the manufacturers to steadily increase the plate export offers.The country’s export offers are hovering in the range of USD 430-440/MT,FoB China.
Meanwhile,nation’s domestic prices are rising sharply and by far made the highest record this year.Currently China’s domestic prices are registered at RMB 3,150-3,170 (USD 464-467),ex work basis.
CIS Countries:
CIS-origin plates export offers are at USD 425-430/MT, FoB Black Sea.However, Russian export offer surges on rising coking coal prices
