Baltic dry index rises as Capesize segment strengthens

The Baltic Dry Index gained 0.5% (10 points) to reach 2,038 on 16 Mar’26 against 13 Mar, supported by stronger Capesize earnings amid tightening vessel supply leading to fixtures at higher levels, offsetting weakness in smaller segments.

• Capesize: BCI surged by 1.6% (47 points) to 2,927.
• Panamax: BPI down 0.1% (2 points) to 1,836.
• Supramax: BSI declined 1.2% (15 points) to 1,268.
