In Oct’16, Met Coke imports, month-wise, into India were the highest during FY17, at 0.56 MnT. The imports had risen remarkably due to the prospect of imposition of Anti Dumping Duty on the imports by the Government of India. Also, the uncertainty posed by the rising Coking Coal prices had prompted Indian buyers to book import consignments to restrict cash out-go if the coal prices rise further.
According to CoalMint Research, the imports during the month had escalated by around 60% over that of 0.35 MnT in Sep’16.
