Global crude steel production falls 7% y-o-y in Jan’26

Global crude steel production declined by 6.5% y-o-y to 147.3 mnt in Jan’26, according to the World Steel Association (WSA). M-o-m, output edged down by 5.5% m-o-m from 139.6 mnt in Dec’25.

• China’s production dropped by 13.9% y-o-y to 75.3 mnt.
• India’s output rose by 10.5% y-o-y to 15.1 mnt.
• Japan’s production edged down by 0.5% y-o-y to 6.8 mnt.
