India: Major ERW pipe manufacturer hikes list prices for early-Feb’26 sales

  • ERW pipe, HRC prices rise by up to INR 4,800/t m-o-m in Jan
  • Jan’26 demand stays moderate on tight liquidity, festive holidays

A major Indian ERW pipe manufacturer, specialising in hot-rolled coil (HRC)-based products, has increased list prices of its base-grade pipes (25-125 NB, 2.2-6 mm) by INR 1,000-3,000/t across regions for early-February 2026 sales, sources informed BigMint.

Post-revision, list prices are at INR 54,000/t ($589/t) exy-Raipur, INR 56,000/t ($611/t) exy-Pune, and INR 56,000/t ($611/t) exy-Delhi, excluding 18% GST. These revised prices are effective from 1 February 2026.

Market update

Distributor-level monthly average prices of ERW pipes in Raipur rose by INR 4,700/t ($51/t) m-o-m to INR 55,600/t ($606/t) in January compared to INR 50,900/t ($555/t) in December.

Market sentiment for ERW pipes remained moderate during the month, with overall trading activity staying subdued due to mid-month festive holidays. Market participants informed BigMint that “persistent financial constraints continued to weigh on demand, keeping activity slightly sluggish”. However, a price hike announced by a major producer supported prices in the trade market.

Trade-level HRC prices rise m-o-m

M-o-m, trade-level HRC prices climbed up by INR 4,800/t ($52/t) to INR 51,900/t ($566/t) in January compared with INR 47,100/t ($514/t) in December.

India’s HRC trade market remained on an upward path after mills announced fresh price hikes in mid-January. Additionally, demand stayed moderate, but trading activity slowed due to festive holidays and fewer working days caused by long weekends and bank holidays. As a result, traders sold material quickly to manage cash flows and payments.

Outlook

ERW pipe prices are expected to witness a modest increase in the coming month, supported by anticipated price corrections from primary mills. However, demand conditions will remain a key determinant in the weeks ahead, amid broadly balanced supply dynamics.
