5th bulk vessel (53,000 MT) of Mill scale has been reported at Indian port. According to customs data, vessel “MV Shandong Hai Shang” is to load 33,000 MT (on 19 Oct) from Kandla and about 20,000 MT from Chennai port (on 21 Oct).
According to sources, the cargo belongs to KK Enterprises and will be exported to JFE (Japanese steel mill) in Philippines. This is the 2nd shipment to Philippines in FY17.
The deal was heard settled at around USD 50-52/MT FoB India. This price is higher than the general market as Japanese pay premium for better quality material.
In the month of Sep’16 no Mill Scale exports were recorded. Till Sep’16, India exported 126,500 MT out of which 114,00 MT was from Kandla port and 12,500 MT was from Chennai port.

Mill Scale export from Bangladesh
In the month of October 30,000 MT Mill scale exported to Oata port in Japan on vessel Maa Saleha Begaum from Chittagong Port in Bangladesh.
As per sources total 54,800 MT Mill Scale exported from Bangladesh in CY 2016 and the major importer was Japan.
