Baltic dry index hits 2-week high on recovery across all vessel segments

The Baltic Dry Index gained 4.3% (74 points) d-o-d to reach a two-week high of 1,803 on 21 Jan’26. The uptick was supported by increasing vessel demand, tightening tonnage availability, and iron ore and coal fixtures concluded at higher levels.

  • Capesize: BCI increased 6.3% (162 points) to 2,732.
  • Panamax: BPI rose by 2.3% (36 points) to 1,606.
  • Supramax: BSI rose 1.32% (13 points) to 996.
