Demand for Anthracite Coal has increased in most of the international regions due to stockpiling by power plants to meet the peak demand for power in the winter season.

In China, demand for the coal variant has been strong due to active fertilizer production.

In the meantime, South Korea based South East Power Company Limited is learnt to have purchased 60,000 MT of Russian Anthracite Coal at USD 75/MT China.

Globally, demand for the coal will remain strong during the winter season, subsequent to which the demand will slowdown as power consumption will recede.

IMPORTS

Understandably, imports of Anthracite Coal into India have remained low. During the 1-14 Oct’16 period, only 56,700 MT entered into the country, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.
