SAIL has invited a global tender for tentative purchase of 9,870 MT ferro silicon for its various plants.
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is the India’s largest steelmaker and produces a variety of steel and iron products, including Pig iron, flat and long products and special steels at its plants spread over India. The company will require a projected quantity of about 9,870 MT ferro silicon to meet its four months requirement from Dec’16-Mar’17.
The offer submitted by the bidder will be valid for the period of 60 days from the date of tender opening.

Chemical specifications
The material should contain Silicon 70% min, Carbon 0.15% max, Phosphorous 0.05% max, Sulphur 0.05% max and Aluminium 2.0% max.
Eligibility criteria
1. The bidder should be a ferro silicon manufacturer and must have installed capacity to produce 8,000 MT of ferro silicon per annum.
2. The bidder must offer a minimum quantity of 2,700 MT to be submitted in 4 equal installments in 4 months.
3. The bidder must quote for all size-wise, packing-wise requirement of the market for all SAIL’s plants.
Tender schedule (IST)
The due date for submitting the offer is 3 Nov’16 till 13:00 hrs and the techno-commercial opening is scheduled on 4 Nov’16 at 10:30 hrs.
