India: ERW patra pipe prices increase w-o-w on higher raw material costs

• Trade stays slow on weak finished steel demand
• Sellers expect demand to pick up in near term

ERW patra pipe prices (41-60 OD) increased w-o-w on 19 December 2025 in both Raipur and Mandi Gobindgarh, following a rise in raw material prices. However, trade momentum in both regions remained sluggish due to weak demand from the finished segment.

A source indicated at the beginning of the week that “demand is sluggish, but it is expected to improve in the coming days”.

Weekly price trends 

Raipur: Prices rose by INR 600/t w-o-w to INR 39,600/t exw-Raipur on 19 December from INR 39,000/t a week ago. Trade activities in the region remained slow, mostly to fulfil immediate needs.

Mandi: Prices increased by INR 400/t w-o-w to INR 41,700/t exw-Mandi Gobindgarh, compared with INR 41,300/t last week. Trade volumes of around 1,500 t were recorded this week, indicating sluggish demand.

On a d-o-d basis as well, prices rose, with Raipur prices increasing by INR 400/t to INR 39,600/t exw on 19 December from INR 39,200/t on 18 December 2025. Prices in Mandi Gobindgarh rose by INR 500/t to INR 41,700/t exw on 19 December from INR 41,200/t a day earlier. Listed prices are ex-works (exw) and exclude18% GST.

Raw materials prices

HR strip (patra): HR strip (patra) prices in Raipur rose by INR 300/t w-o-w to INR 38,800/t exw from INR 38,500/t on 12 December 2025. In Mandi Gobindgarh, patra prices increased by INR 400/t w-o-w to INR 40,700/t exw from INR 40,300/t a week ago.

Billet: Billet prices in Raipur rose by INR 1,200/t w-o-w to INR 37,350/t exw-Raipur on 19 December from INR 36,150/t in the previous week. In Mandi Gobindgarh, prices stood at INR 40,300/t exw, up INR 550/t w-o-w from INR 39,750/t on 12 December 2025.

Outlook

ERW patra pipe prices in Raipur and Mandi Gobindgarh are expected to strengthen in the coming week, supported by higher raw material costs, including HR strips and billets. Market participants anticipate an improvement in demand in the days ahead, which is likely to lend further support to prices.
