India’s chrome ore dispatches declined slightly by 2% (6,223 tonnes) m-o-m to 263,742 t in October 2025 as against 269,965 t in September. OMC’s chrome ore auction on 17 October 2025 saw a mixed response, with bids for most grades increasing by 0.4-18% (INR 40-5,550/t), while those for a few others declined by 8-10% (INR 1,894-2,764/t) m-o-m.
Overall dispatch volumes did not change significantly in October, as Indian ferro chrome price movements remained limited. Prices of the high-carbon grade increased by INR 2,500/t (2%) m-o-m to a monthly average of INR 119,600/t.
In October, FACOR registered the highest growth, with dispatches increasing by 50% m-o-m to 11,198 t. Tata Steel and IMFA also saw an increase of 13% and 9%, respectively. On the other hand, OMC’s dispatches declined by 17% m-o-m to 124,674 t.
Procurement trends

IMFA emerged as the largest chrome ore buyer, procuring 58,110 t entirely from its captive mines. Jindal Stainless ranked second with purchases of 51,872 t, with 83% sourced from OMC (43,077 t), followed by 11% from Tata Steel (5,691 t), and the remaining 6% (3,105 t) from its captive mines. Balasore Alloys was placed third, procuring 27,107 t entirely from its own mines.
