Alloy Steel Plant (ASP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has invited a tender for appointment of conversion agent for converting iron ore into 18,000 MT sponge iron for its captive use from the producers of sponge iron. Bidder having manufacturing unit (kiln) of sponge iron in India are allowed to participate in the tender.
The unloading, loading and transportation of iron ore has to be done by bidder from the racks at ASP or near ASP when required.
Successful bidder will be appointed as the conversion agent (CA) initially for the period of 12 months, which will start from Nov’16 (tentative). The offer will be valid for the period of 90 days from the date of tender submission for acceptance.

Total Fe: 60 to 63%
Al2O3 + SiO2: 8.5% max
Size: 5 to 8 mm

Fe (metallic): 77% min
Total Fe: 87.5% min
Degree of metallization: 88% min
Non magnetic: 0.5% max
Carbon: 0.5% max
Size: 3 to 18 mm
Conversion ratio
1. For every 1 MT of sponge iron conversion, quantity of iron ore provided by ASP will be considered at 1.77 MT (for Fe content of 60-63% in iron ore).
2. For every 0.5% decrease in total Fe content, if found in the ore, 1% excess ore than the stipulated conversion ratio will be considered for conversion purpose.
Tender Schedule (IST)
The due date for bid submission is 18 Oct’16 till 12:30 hrs and the technical bid opening is scheduled on same day at 14:30 hrs
