- Steel prices expected to see minor fluctuations
Trading in India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market remained moderate on 10 December 2025.
Sponge iron offers varied within the range INR 100-200/t d-o-d, with the Jharsuguda and Hyderabad markets witnessing a drop of INR 100/t to INR 21,900/t and INR 24,500/t, respectively. However, Durgapur saw prices inching up by INR 200/t to INR 22,500/t.
Billet offers fluctuated within INR 100-300/t d-o-d. The sharpest drop of INR 200/t was seen in Mumbai with prices settling at INR 39,200/t, while in Ahmedabad billet rose INR 300/t d-o-d to INR 40,100/t.
Rebar (Fe 500) tags dropped by INR 200/t in Hyderabad to INR 41,300/t. Meanwhile, prices rose by INR 100/t in Raipur and Mumbai to INR 39,200/t and INR 44,500/t, respectively.
Moderate trade activity was observed in the spot market today. Trade volumes saw a slight improvement as buyers showed interest in procuring material following today’s price hike. Prices are likely to range-bound over the next couple of days as per current scenario.
The conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for standalone induction furnaces in the Raipur cluster was assessed at INR 13,450/t.
