It is reported that Turkey's steel scrap imports have increased by 12.8
percent in May 2012 from the same period in the Year 2011. However it fell by
4.8 percent from April 2012.
According to the data provided by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the
total scrap imports have accumulated to 1.96 million MT into Turkey in the period of March 2012.
In addition, in the first five months (January-May) of this year Turkey's
scrap imports moved up by 17.5 percent compared to the same period last year,
amounted to 9.36 million MT of scrap.
US continued to remain the top supplier of scrap to Turkish mills with
0.63 million MT of scrap in May 2012. While Russia placed at 2nd spot with
0.31 million tones of exports to Turkey.
