Trade statistics released from Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that world’s largest iron ore exporter, Australia exported around 65.73 MnT iron ore in Jul’16.
Iron ore exports have witnessed a downfall of 3.6% M-o-M as it was 68.25 MnT in Jun’16. On the contrary, Australian iron ore exports witnessed a growth of 2.3% on Y-o-Y basis as it was 64.19 MnT in Jul’15.
Australian Port Hedland exports around 70% of total Australian iron ore exports. InJul’16, exports from the Port was registered at 38.7 MnT, down by 7.4% M-o-M and up by 9.6% Y-o-Y.
During the first seven months of 2016, the country exported 455.6 MnT iron ore, up by 4.8% Y-o-Y as it was 434.4 MnT in the same period prior this year.
In Jul’16, the non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) export in Jul’16 was registered at 65.5 MnT, down by 3.5% M-o-M. On similar lines, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) export was registered at 0.23 MnT, down by 11.5% M-o-M.
- China imports around 80% of total Australian iron ore. In Jul’16, the country imported 54.78 MnT iron ore, down by 2.6% M-o-M. However, on Y-o-Y basis, country’s imports from Australia grew by 4.8% as it was 52.27 MnT in Jul’15.
- Japan, the second-largest iron ore imports have imported 5.81 MnT iron ore in Jul’16. Country’s imports from Australia drop down by 10% M-o-M. The nation imported 5.57 MnT iron ore in Jul’15.
- South Korea, the third-largest iron ore importer has imported 3.15 MnT iron ore in Jul’16, down by 16% M-o-M and 36% Y-o-Y.
- Taiwan, the fourth largest iron ore importer has imported 1.52 MnT iron ore in Jul’16, up by 14.2% M-o-M and 20.6% Y-o-Y as it was 1.26 MnT in Jul’15.
