Goan Government Lifts Seasonal Ban on Iron Ore Transportation

Three month long seasonal ban on iron ore transportation has been lifted by Goa DMG.

On 27 Jun’16, Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG), Government of Goa had stopped iron ore transportation through roads with onset of monsoon season in order to ensure safety of citizens using road network.

And whereas, the monsoon has almost rescinded, the notification on transportation of mineral by road herein stands withdrawn with immediate activity.

Iron ore mining in Goa is likely to resume from next month onwards.

Vedanta exported 60,000 MT iron ore to China in Sept’16

Low grade iron ore export from Goa has also fallen over monsoons since Jul’16. So far in this month single iron ore export vessel from Goa has been noticed. Vedanta exported 60,000 MT iron ore to China on 20 Sept’16 via vessel named “Sadlers Wells”.
