The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has directed Facor
Steels, part of Ferro Alloys Corporation, to shut its manufacturing facility in
Nagpur.
The closure notice was issued by the board's Regional Office
for violating its directions. The company has complied with the directions and
has closed down its manufacturing activities with immediate effect, it said in
a statement.
Further, the company is taking steps to get the closure
order vacated by making proper representation to the pollution control board.
The stainless steel and other specialty critical grade
products produced at the Nagpur unit of the company caters to the automobiles,
railways, defence and engineering sectors.
