Met coke imports into India have exhibited a steep upturn as steel producers ran their plants at high operating rates.
In Aug’16, Met coke imports rose by more than 126% to 0.52 MnT as compared with that of 0.23 MnT in July’16, according to the data compiled by CoalMint Research.

Conforming to the normal trend, the bulk of the imports during the month came from China, where, Met coke production has been undergoing supply issues lately.

Among the various ports in the country, the Hazira port had handled the highest volume of import traffic during the month, followed by the Mormugao and Paradip ports.
