Philippines’ extended import ban weighs on Vietnamese rice market

Vietnamese rice prices face downside risk as the Philippines has extended its import ban by 30 days, prolonging uncertainty from its top buyer. Philippines imported 490,078 t from Vietnam in Jan – Aug’25, slightly below last year. Fragrant 5% rice was assessed at $449/mt FOB on 30 Sep, up $4 d-o-d but down $45 since 6 Aug. Weak African demand, weather issues add pressure.
