Jindal Steel has commissioned a new 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) basic oxygen furnace (BOF) at its Angul plant, raising crude steel capacity from 6 mtpa to 9 mtpa. Aligned with Blast Furnace (BF) 2, the expansion enhances throughput into downstream mills, supporting sectors such as infrastructure, automotive, and energy. Chairman Naveen Jindal emphasised the milestone as a step towards India’s steel self-reliance.
