Import for wire products increased significantly M-o-M in Aug’16
As per customs data available with SteelMint, total import of bar and rod in India increased by 54% M-o-M to 83,100 MT in Aug’16.
Import increased particulary for code/chapter 7227, 7217 (non-alloy and alloy steel wire) and 7214 (alloy bar and rod) by almost 138%, 150% and 47% respectively, in Aug’16 compared to the previous month.
It is to be noted that the government has extended MIP on 66 steel products including bar and rod under chapter/HS code 7213, 7214 and 7227 in the range of USD 449-455/MT ,for another 2 months till 4 Oct’16. .
