NMDC’s Iron Ore Supply from Bailadila Mines Drops by 12% in Aug’16

NMDC supplied 238 rakes of iron ore from its Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh last month compared to 271 rakes in Jul’16. Thus, 12% M-o-M fall can be noticed in its iron ore supply.

Iron ore sourcing from Chhattisgarh based units fell significantly by 30% M-o-M in Aug’16. Chhattisgarh based sponge iron units procured 37 rakes in Aug’16 from NMDC (C.G.) compared to 53 rakes in Jul’16.

Sourcing fell by 11% M-o-M of outside Chhattisgarh based units as they procured 165 rakes in Aug’16 compared to 185 rakes in Jul’16.

West coast based steel maker – Gallant Metal started sourcing iron ore from NMDC (C.G.) in Aug’16 over costly imported lump offers. SteelMint heard from its market sources that the steel maker has booked 12 rakes of Baila lump and DR-CLO.

Mangalore based pellet maker and exporter – KIOCL resumed iron ore purchases from NMDC (C.G.) after a long span of 20 months since Dec’14. It procured nine rakes of Baila fines in the month of Aug’16. According to the trade sources, the procured material will be utilized for its upcoming pellet export shipment.

JSW Steel procured 48 rakes from NMDC (C.G.) in Aug’16, out of which 46 rakes were for its Dolvi plant while the remaining two were for its Vijayanagar plant.

Iron ore sourcing of Vizag Steel declined by 18% M-o-M and it procured 84 rakes in Aug’16. Essar Steel procured two rakes of iron ore in Aug’16 in contrast to five rakes in Jul’16.

Rake movement for export remained stable on monthly premises and the miner loaded 36 rakes in Aug’16 against 33 rakes in Jul’16.
