Coal India Limited (CIL) is pursuing efforts to strike coal supply deals in Bangladesh.
CIL officials are in deep consultations with prospective buyers in Bangladesh to gain export orders.
Exporting coal to the neighboring country has become necessary for the Indian coal miner as availability of coal in India is in excess of demand. According to a recent survey, Indian power plants have a huge coal inventory of around 80 MnT.
Prospects of CIL exporting coal to Bangladesh is in a positive note as India had signed with that government in July’16 an agreement to construct a 1,320 MW power plant in that country.
