Indonesia enforces reclamation rules, suspends 190 coal and mineral companies

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has suspended 190 coal and mineral companies for not providing post-mining reclamation guarantees under Letter No. T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025 (18 Sept 2025) as per market sources. The suspension remains until firms submit reclamation plans and guarantees, though IUP (mining business permit) holders must still meet environmental obligations. About 50% of the suspended firms are coal miners across Jambi, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra, and Bangka Belitung.
