China: Billet prices rise by $3/t d-o-d amid improved sales

  • Billet prices in Tangshan, China, rose RMB 20/t ($3/t) d-o-d to RMB 3,010/t ($423/t); SHFE Jan’26 rebar gained RMB 35/t ($5/t) to RMB 3,127/t ($439/t).
  • The market closed firmer with improved local sales, though inventories stayed high and overall demand was weak. EAF losses hit a 13-month high.
  • Exports were steady despite higher offers. Iron ore neared RMB 800/t ($112/t), while coke was softer.
