CIL’s monthly coal production has fallen by 11.7% in Aug’16 as compared to last month. Meanwhile yearly production has also registered a downfall of 10.4% compared with Aug’15.
Coal India Limited, the world’s largest coal miner, has produced about 32.43 MnT coal with a downfall of 11.7% in Aug’16. In comparison with last year, CIL’s monthly production has also fallen by 10.4% in Aug’16.
In view of estimated target, CIL has achieved only 79% of his assigned target which was 40.9 MnT set for the month. And again fails to achieve its monthly target by 20.7% in Aug’16.

Quantity in MnT
It is to be noted that out of the total 8 subsidiaries of CIL, all subsidiaries performed below the target level during the month. SECL and MCL, two highest producing subsidiaries of CIL, has produced highest quantity about 8.12 MnT and 9.26 MnT coal in the month.
CIL’s Misses Offtake target by 7.8 MnT in Aug’16
CIL achieved only 82.5% of its offtake target and dispatched 36.72 MnT in Aug’16. However, compare to last year its offtake supply has dropped by 9.6%.
Out of the all subsidiaries, only NEC has supplied (113%) more than its monthly offtake target in Aug’16. ECL & MCL offtake was 88% and 86%, delivered 3.1 MnT and 10.5 MnT coal respectively. CCL, NCL and SECL have achieved offtake target of 78%, 81% and 82% respectively.
CIL’s Performance in FY17
Since the beginning of FY17, the company could not able to achieve its production target every month. In the first five month of this fiscal the company had produced about 194.8 MnT coal instead of targeted 213.6 MnT for the same period. CIL has set a coal production target of 598.61 MnT for FY17.
