Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that Brazil has exported around 34.5 MnT iron ore in Aug’16. Iron ore exports increased by 14.2% in Aug’16 against 30.2 MnT in the month of Jul’16.
Brazilian iron ore export volumes increased significantly by 27.3% Y-o-Y.
In the first eight months of 2016, the country exported 241.9 MnT iron ore, up by 5.4% as it was 229.5 MnT during the same period in 2015.
The average export price for Brazilian iron ore in Aug’16 was around USD 36.4/MT, FoB Brazil, up by USD 3.5/MT from Jul’16 as it was USD 32.9/MT, FoB Brazil.
Meanwhile, export prices moved significantly up by 1.67% on Y-o-Y as it was USD 35.8/MT in the same consecutive month last year.
It is to be noted that Vale’s Samarco iron ore mine has not been operation in last one year due to dam disruption, iron ore exports from Brazil has increased. Samarco’s iron ore mine is hopeful to restart its operation by mid-2017.
