Global stainless steel melt shop production rose by 5% y-o-y to 31.9 mnt in H1CY’25, according to the World Stainless Association. China remained the leading producer at 20.16 mnt, a 7% increase y-o-y, while Europe’s volumes fell slightly by 1%. The US recorded an 8% y-o-y increase at 1.02 mnt. Asia (excluding China and South Korea) saw a 95% increase at 3.61 mnt against the same period last year.
