- Jindal Stainless emerges as leading buyer
- Tata Steel’s dispatches rise sharply m-o-m
India’s chrome ore dispatches fell by 7% m-o-m to 193,370 t in July 2025 compared with 208,678 t in Jun. The decline was attributed to the impact of the monsoon season, which curtailed market availability.
Tata Steel recorded the highest growth, with dispatches rising sharply m-o-m to 18,243 t in July. Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) too saw an 11% m-o-m increase in dispatches to 97,080 t. In contrast, dispatches from FACOR and Jindal Stainless declined by 36% and 35% to 14,757 t and 4,009 t in July, respectively.

Procurement trends
Jindal Stainless emerged as the leading chrome ore buyer with 49,031 t, sourcing 92% (45,022 t) from OMC and the remaining 8% (4,009 t) from its own captive mines. IMFA followed as the second-largest buyer with 40,277 t, entirely met through captive sourcing, while Balasore Alloys ranked third with 19,004 t, also supplied from its own mines.
