China was world's largest Pig Iron producer, states World Steel Association data, for the period starting Jan' 12 to June'12. It produced 60% of Pig Iron which comes to 335
million metric tonnes (mmt) and is an increase of 4.4% yoy.
In the first six months of this year, total production across the globe increased by 2.5%, i.e. 562.3 mmt in comparison to the same period last year.
As compared to May 2012, Global Pig Iron production reduced by 3.1%, which is 93.4 mmt for June. Whereas, it increased by 1% year on year, states world steel.
