India’s ferrous scrap imports rose by 18% y-o-y in January-June 2025 (H1CY’25) reaching 4.58 million tonnes (mnt) compared with 3.88 mnt in the same period of last year, as per BigMint data. Scrap imports edged up due to higher crude steel production, strong growth in scrap usage, and the arrival of shipments booked earlier.
