India: Ferro silicon prices surge due to limited supplies, higher silicon metal rates

Indian ferro silicon prices surged by INR 7,100/t ($82/t) to INR 92,800/t ($1,073/t), as per BigMint’s assessment on 25 Jul’25. Bhutan’s prices also increased by INR 5,700/t ($66/t) to INR 92,000/t ($1,064/t). This sudden hike in prices is due to supply constraints, arising from power supply to Meghalaya plants being cut, and a recent uptrend in imported silicon metal prices from China. Silicon metal (553 grade, Si:98.5%) prices stood at $1,470/t CFR Mundra.
