Trade statistics released by Customs Committee of Canada shows that Canadian iron ore exports in H1 2016 significantly rose by 11% as compared to H1 2015.
In H1 2016, the country exported around 19.4 MnT of iron ore (both agglomerated as well as non-agglomerated). However, in H1 2015, iron ore exports both agglomerated and non- agglomerated stood at 17.5 MnT.
In Jun’16, the country exported 3.39 MnT of iron ore as compared to 3.98 MnT in May’16. However, on a Y-o-Y basis, iron ore exports in Jun’16 was down by 6% as it was 3.61 MnT in Jun’15.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (fines and lumps) exports in the month of Jun’16 was registered at 2.15 MnT , dropped sharply by 8% as it was 2.34 MnT in May’16. On a Y-o-Y basis, exports were also down by 11.8% as it was 2.44 MnT in Jun’15.
The agglomerated iron ore exports (pellets and concentrates) in the month of Jun’16 was registered at 1.24 MnT, significantly down by 24% as it was 1.64 MnT in May’16. However, on a Y-o-Y basis, iron ore exports were up by 5.9% as it was 1.17 MnT in Jun’15.
