The Japanese scrap market remained weak, with stable supply but lower demand amid summer production cuts and sluggish export interest. Tokyo Steel’s scrap purchase prices ranged within JPY 38,000-40,500/t ($257-274/t) against JPY 38,000-41,000/t ($257-278/t) earlier, with minimal recovery expected. Meanwhile, Tokyo Steel kept August’s finished prices steady for a third month. Imported steel offers dipped in dollar terms but were flat in JPY.
