- Jindal Stainless emerges as top buyer
- IMFA leads dispatches with 650% m-o-m rise
India’s chrome ore dispatches rose by 31% m-o-m to 246,851 t in May 2025, up from 188,633 t in April.
Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) recorded the highest growth, with dispatches surging by 650% m-o-m to 45,380 t in May. Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) too saw 37% m-o-m increase in dispatches to 104,792 t. On the other hand, dispatches from Tata Steel and FACOR fell by 29% and 9% to 35,484 t and 24,860 t in May, respectively.

Procurement trends
Jindal Stainless was the largest chrome ore buyer, procuring 87% (46,413 t) from OMC and the remaining 13% (6,961 t) from its own captive mines. IMFA ranked second, sourcing entire requirement of 45,380 t from captive mines. Balasore Alloys stood third, securing 29,374 t entirely from its own mines.
