Global crude steel production down 4% y-o-y in May’25: WSA

Global crude steel production inched down by 3.8% y-o-y to 158.8 mnt in May’25, as per the World Steel Association (WSA) and based on data from the 70 countries that report to it.

• China’s output dropped by 6.9% y-o-y at 86.6 mnt.
• India’s production rose 9.7% y-o-y to 13.5 mnt.
• Japan’s production declined 4.7% y-o-y to 6.8 mnt.
