Essar Ports Advancing Ahead in Augmenting its Hazira Port Capacity

Essar Ports, one of India’s largest port companies is moving forward with expansion plans of berthing capacity at Hazira port. 

Essar Ports has three operational all-weather, deep-draft terminals at Hazira and Vadinar on the west coast, and Paradip on the east coast of India.

Essar’s Hazira facility has 30 MnT pa of dry bulk and breaks bulk cargo handling capacity. It is expanding its Hazira terminal capacity by 20 MnT pa to 50 MnT pa.
  
During a visit conducted at Essar Steels in Hazira (Gujarat) Capt. Subha Das (CEO, Essar Ports) shared with SteelMint “We are expanding our bulk terminal of Essar Hazira Ports from current 550 meters to 1,100 meters. Out of 1,100 meters expansion plans, we have successfully completed nearly 300 meters. Thus in the days to come it will augment our berthing facility to six berths. Presently Essar Ports handles nearly 80,000 MT of iron ore cargo discharge on a daily basis”.

As per reports, the company will be investing nearly INR 750 crores in ramping up its Hazira bulk cargo handling capacity. The company aims to further augment its bulk terminal to 1,650 meters to handle 7 vessels at a time.
