India’s Bar and Rod Export Increases, but Quantity Remains Low

Indian export in Q2 FY17 stood at 69,000 MT; 50% of its covers under chapter 7214.

India’s export of bar and rod to various countries stood at around 69,000 MT during Apr-Jun’16 quarter. Export is gradually increasing month-on-month (M-o-M), as per the custom data available with SteelMint.

Out of the total export of bar and rod from India recorded during Apr-Jun’16 quarter, 50% of its covers under chapter 7214.

Material is majorly exported to nearby countries like Nepal, including other South East Asian countries like UAE in the same duration.

Primary steel producers SAIL, JSW, JSPL, Tata Steel and RINL focus on the domestic market. Whereas, secondary market in Durgapur was heard to be actively participated for export in recent past.
