China: Iron ore spot prices drop $1/t d-o-d

Iron ore fines (Fe 62%) spot prices dipped by $0.75/t to $100.35/t CFR China on 19 May in fresh trades, driven by steel mills aiming to preserve margins through price cuts and purchases on need-only basis. According to reports, demand for lower-grade fines remains strong, as producers are looking to improve margins through cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
