Iran: Steel billet prices surge as power cuts squeeze supply

Domestic billet tags in Iran inched up as key steel-producing regions faced severe power outages, tightening supply. Liquidity challenges and worsening electricity issues keep the supply outlook weak, while low inventories may drive demand.

  • Billet prices inched up to 320,000 Rial/kg on 19 May, up by 12,500 Rial/kg from 14 May.
  • Rebar tags rose to 380,000 Rial/kg, higher by 15,000 Rial/kg on 19 May as against 14 May.
